June 9, 2014;

This blog post will be all about some of the reasons that I have decided that I am going to delete my Facebook for good.  This is something that I actually never have really thought about until the last couple of days.  Recently my best friend has decided that he is deleting his Facebook and he made a video about the reasons that he was planning on deleting his.  Some of these reasons made me realize that I have to agree with him.

I'll just start this list:
  •   It takes up so much of my time.
    • He mentioned how every single time he opens an internet browser he goes straight to Facebook, and then he'll think of something to do and then open a browser and will go BACK to Facebook and forget what he was doing.
      • I agree with this 100% seriously.  I mean I have my homepage on my internet browser SET to Facebook.  I don't even know why, but I can't open a new browser without feeling the need to look at what is happening even if it is just something that I have already seen or something that is going to make me annoyed, which leads me to reason number two.
  • Most posts don't even interest me.
    • Way too often I see things that are on my Facebook that I am just like, I DON'T CARE! I really either just get annoyed or just scroll right past. Yeah, sometimes I see things like OH SOMEONE GOT ENGAGED or SOMEONE IS HAVING A BABY! Yeah, those things are really exciting, but I feel like if I am close enough with the people I am going to know those things anyway.
    • Facebook just causes drama sometimes that I really don't enjoy seeing.  I don't care who is in a fight with who or enjoy seeing people calling others bad names just because they are mad at someone who more than likely the next day they are going to be showing love and affection toward.  I am sick of that.
  •  I talk to most people outside of Facebook anyway.
    • I have family on Facebook, but I learn more things through my mom who I call or text all of the time or from my dad quite often.  I mean yeah there are some things that I can learn from Facebook that I might not learn for a couple days later, but still.
    • All of the friends that I have and REALLY care about most of them I talk to outside of Facebook as well. I mean yeah, there are a few people who I don't talk to anywhere else, but I am planning on making it so that I can keep in contact with them outside of Facebook after I delete my account.
  • Privacy settings are getting a little ridiculous.
    • Now this is a subject I don't really know how to discuss, but I do know that some of the things just aren't the same.  You have to go through so many more steps just to hide things from other people, and it really shouldn't be.  Nothing online is secret anymore and I really thing that is not acceptable and Facebook is just getting worse and worse.
So, for now I will still continue to have my Facebook at least for the next month.  The only reason that I am keeping it for that long is because I want to make sure that I have all of the contact information for the people that I want to have.

After it is gone though I will still have other means of contact and other places that I am online.

This is something that I believe is going to be the best for me both in the short and long run.  I think that in no time I am going to feel like something has been lifted off of my shoulders and it will all just end up being the best choice that I made.  I might miss a few things, but I doubt it.
